Li Gong

Li Gong Chairman and CEO of Mozilla Online Ltd
Mozilla Online Ltd is a new China-based subsidiary of the Mozilla
Corporation.

Between 2005 and early 2007 Li Gong was Managing
Director of MSN Technologies, an organization of about 650 people
with operations in Beijing and Shanghai, which was the China unit of
the worldwide business group MSN at Microsoft. Prior to Microsoft,
he was with Sun Microsystems for 9 years, where he served as Chief
Java Security Architect, Distinguished Engineer, Senior Engineering
Director, and General Manager of the 400-people Sun's Software group
in China.

Li Gong started his career as a research scientist in the
field of distributed systems and security, working at Stanford
Research Institute ( SRI ) International and ORA. He held visiting
positions at Cornell and Stanford Universities , served as both
Program Chair and General Chair for IEEE S&P, ACM CCS, and IEEE
CSFW, and was Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Internet Computing
and Associate Editor of ACM TISSEC. He co-wrote 3 books (published
by Addison Wesley and O'Reilly) and received more than 10 US
patents. He has written numerous technical articles, and was a
recipient of the Leonard G. Abraham annual prize given by the IEEE
Communications Society for "the most significant contribution to
technical literature in the field of interest of the IEEE".

He was the founding Co-President of Mozilla China Foundation, was named one
of the 2003 China New Economy People by China Internet Weekly and
Sina, and received the China Open Source Movement Leadership Award
in 2003 given by CCID and the China Software Industry Association.
He just stepped down as the founding Beijing chapter chair of TEEC
(Tsinghua Entreprenuer and Executive Club) but remains an advisory
board member of the Tsinghua University Research Institute of
Information Technology. He received BS and MS degrees from Tsinghua
University , Beijing , and a PhD from the University of Cambridge ,
all in computer science.
